Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the benefits of football scholarship with community service. One of the first things he did is to help his family. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children on an Eufala farm. He played football with his three brothers from Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for the entire nation. In his time as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and won two national titles. Selmon was a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded an award for his third year in 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's diploma from the University of California in Berkeley. Fourth-year service in the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. After graduation Lee Roy moved to Tampa and spent the next nine years playing with Tampa's Buccaneers. There were three times he was selected All-Pro. He began his business career. The first job he had was an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. In the past, he worked in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top 10 young stars across the country. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds in his college days. He was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993, he was named assistant director of the University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. The Selmons' parents Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
