Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop: she is the only celebrity to have crossed from country into the mainstream, and to become a pop icon worldwide. Swift has shed her country roots like it were a second-skin showing herself to be the smartest pop singer/songwriter in her generation. Swift is able to take the zeitgeist of today and turn it into her own. Swift's early songs, including their neo celebration of Tim McGraw, showed off her talents. However, her album Fearless revealed a songwriter who was discovering herself and finding a large audience. Fearless was successful not only in America, but also with six platinum-certified songs. Its Top Ten songs Love Story & I Belong with Me were the main reasons for this. But, it also did well all over the world. Swift's new album Speak Now, released nearly two years following the previous one, built on the success of this album. It helped propel Swift to superstardom. Her popularity only increased with her following three albums - Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017) Reputation (2017) and saw her move confidently into a realm of pop music where she already belonged. Her name was always on top of the charts until she reverted to her own style on her sister albums Folklore and Evermore in the year 2020.
